A new time-delayed periodic boundary condition for discrete element modelling of railway track under moving wheel loads

چکیده

Abstract A new time-delayed periodic boundary condition (PBC) has been proposed for discrete element modelling (DEM) of structures subject to moving loads such as railway track based on a box test which is normally used an testing model. The PBC approached by predicting forces acting ghost particles with the consideration different loading phases adjacent sleepers whereas normal simply gives same contact original particles. By comparing sleeper in single fixed boundary, and newly (TDPBC), TDPBC was found produce closest settlement that middle three-sleeper assumed be free effects. It appears can eliminate effect more effectively than either or cell. Graphic abstract

A Study to Predict the Development of Wear for the Wheel/interface of a Railway Track

The train transport is often confronted with greatly repeated changes in scope, vehicle travel well-being and transport safety because of the adjustments of wheel and rail profiles. These problems are frustrating and threatening. Thus, there is a requirement for an approach to predicting the wear of wheel/rail to tackle these problems. A new theoretical ground is broken through the build-up a m...

Analysis of a Beam under Moving Loads

Abstract: It is assumed that a beam made of material has a physical nonlinear behavior. This beam is analyzed under the moving concentrated and distributed continuous loads. The vibration equations of motion are derived from the Hamilton's Principle and Euler–Lagrange Equation. In this study, the amplitude of vibration, circular frequency, bending moment, stress and deflection of the beam has b...

Development of a Finite Element Methodology for Flexible Track Models in Railway Dynamics Applications

The dynamic analysis of railway vehicles involves the construction of three independent models: the vehicle model; the track model; and the wheel-rail contact model. In this work, a multibody formulation with Cartesian coordinates is used to describe the kinematic structure of the rigid bodies and joints that constitute the vehicle model. A methodology is also proposed in order to create detail...

Discrete Element Modeling of Dynamic Compaction with Different Tamping Condition

Dynamic Compaction (DC) is a common deep compaction method that is usually used for densification of coarse-grained soils. Although traditional continuum-based models such as the Finite Element Method can be successfully applied for assessment of stress distributions or deformations induced by DC, they are typically not adequate for capturing the grain scale mechanisms of soil behavior under im...

A Simplified Curved Boundary Condition in Stationary/Moving Boundaries for the Lattice Boltzmann Method

Lattice Boltzmann method is one of computational fluid dynamic subdivisions. Despite complicated mathematics involved in its background, end simple relations dominate on it; so in comparison to the conventional computational fluid dynamic methods, simpler computer programs are needed. Due to its characteristics for parallel programming, this method is considered efficient for the simulation of ...
